As lockdown restrictions begin to ease we are planning to re-commence trips on 21st June, although this is still subject to change based on Government restrictions. Our brand new Narrowboat, 'Hargreaves II' is complete and waiting on her berth and our volunteers are keen to welcome our guests back aboard
The Hargreaves Narrowboat Trust is a registered charity (Charity Number 1193869) and is run entirely by volunteers. The crew and trustees are all unpaid and give up their time to support this important community service.
The trust enjoys supporting local groups, the community and charities by offering day trips on the narrowboat.
The Hargreaves is a volunteer-run narrowboat for use by the community in the Nuneaton and the surrounding area. We specialise in day trips for care homes and special needs groups, and the boat is accessible for wheelchairs. Volunteering helps keep the costs down to be affordable by the community. We also welcome private parties to have a day out with us.
Each trip is handled by a Captain and two or three Crew, and we are able to take up to 12 passengers besides. Passengers may bring their own lunch or (on certain trips) arrange for us to be at a pub for the meal. The small galley on board allows guests to make themselves hot drinks. We also have mugs, fridge magnets, and other souvenirs of your time on The Hargreaves.
The Hargreaves continues to go from strength to strength. During recent years we have taken over 200 trips each season carrying 2,000+ passengers along the Coventry, Ashby and North Oxford Canals. We have now taken delivery of our brand new, all-electric 64ft Narrowboat which has been aptly named ‘Hargreaves II’. Find out more about this exciting project by clicking on the button below.
